Leveraging Design Thinking as a Strategy for Sustainability
West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum is pleased to feature a discussion with a design strategy and consulting agency, featuring innovation and speculative futures to advance sustainability practices. This virtual event will feature a one-hour discussion, as well as a networking opportunity from 1:00-1:30 pm. Business professionals interested in problem solving to elevate sustainability practices will benefit from Further Degree’s research driven design approach.
Further Degree is a strategy innovation agency that challenges businesses to think bigger and shift their approach in order to create a more resilient future. In an open exploration, Further Degree’s leaders will offer a case-study in progress as they discuss their work as the managing partner for New Futures Lab, illustrating how they have leveraged design thinking as a way to catalyze support for sustainability, while speculating on new future for the food packaging industry. Their work has been framed through the lens of food mobility – the equitable and sustainable movement of nutrients through communities from cultivation to consumption to value recovery – and continues to be an area of exploration and opportunity.
Featured presenters will be Further Degree’s creative leaders, Kate Hunt and Bill Holsinger-Robinson. Hunt is a designer and strategist focused on creating experiences that enable meaningful human connection and collaboration. Holsinger-Robinson is a certified Purpose Leader who has spent the past 15+ years of his career actively focused on developing, supporting, and building capacity for the design and innovation community in West Michigan. Both work to support entrepreneurs and organizations through business model design and finding areas of opportunity or investment and innovation pieces for companies through design and speculative futures to help forward sustainability initiatives and investments.
