Sustainable Business Innovations in Holland
In conjunction with the City of Holland’s Sustainable Education Program, West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum will meet at the Holland Civic Center on Monday, February 14 for a luncheon program highlighting recent sustainable business innovations from Holland area businesses.
Featured speakers include Jack Johnson, Co-founder and CEO of Volta Power Systems, Kelsey Balka, Design for Environment Engineer at MillerKnoll, and Brian Pageau, President of Foresight Management.
Volta Power Systems provides lithium ion energy storage solutions for small to mid-size businesses. The company recently developed a utility truck for Holland Board of Public Works that will save the utility up to $14,000 per year in reduced fuel and maintenance costs while preventing about 42,000 lbs. in CO2 emissions.
Herman Miller & Knoll have recently undergone a merger and are now know as MillerKnoll. The company is currently working through their new sustainability strategy including goals to increase the use of recycled content in its products. It recently announced that its entire portfolio of Aeron Chairs will contain ocean-bound plastic, material changes projected to save the ocean from over 150 tons of plastic annually.
Foresight Management exists to champion energy management, accelerate sustainability, and increase profitability for commercial, industrial, and institutional organizations. An integrated sustainability and energy consulting firm, Foresight delivers strategic planning, ESG data solutions, energy procurement, as well as corporate, facility, and product sustainability consulting to drive holistic solutions for its growing international client base.
Johnson, Balka and Pageau will discuss their recent innovations and sustainable business in the Holland area at the forum, which is sponsored and co-presented by City of Holland and the Outdoor Discovery Center.
Lunch will be provided.
This is an indoor event. In Michigan, there is currently no statewide requirement to wear a face mask in most settings. While masks are not required for this event, we encourage you to do what makes you most comfortable. We will have masks available at check in.
The event is part of the Lakeshore Sustainability Forum series, a project of the West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum underwritten in part by the Community Foundation for Muskegon County and Grand Haven Area Community Foundation. All West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum programs are presented by lead sponsors Foresight and Schupan.
