Wardell Frazier
Executive Director, The Diatribe
Wardell Frazier Jr. serves as the Executive Director of The Diatribe, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering communities through restorative art and education. With over 18 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, youth development, community relations, and public service, Wardell is a steadfast advocate for equity and transformative opportunities in West Michigan.
Wardell’s leadership journey began in 2006 with the City of Grand Rapids’ LOOP after-school and summer programs, where he provided impactful management and guidance to support the city’s youth. His career has since expanded to include significant community engagement roles, most notably as the Community Relations & External Government Affairs Specialist at The Rapid. In this capacity, Wardell fostered meaningful partnerships and worked to expand public transit access for marginalized communities.
In addition to his professional achievements, Wardell is deeply connected to his community through volunteer service and board leadership, including roles with the Black Legacy Fund at The Grand Community Foundation, the City of Grand Rapids Community Relations Commission, and the South Kent Chamber of Commerce’s Diversity Business Council, where he serves as Board Chair.
Wardell’s accomplishments have been celebrated with awards such as Crain’s Business Journal “40 Under 40” (2022), the South Kent Chamber’s inaugural Fabulous “15 Under 40” (2023), and the Michigan Sustainable Business Forum’s Notable Black Leader (2024). These honors reflect his ongoing commitment to advancing equity and creating innovative solutions for community challenges.
As an artist, father, and community advocate, Wardell’s leadership at The Diatribe exemplifies his passion for uplifting youth and fostering social change. Under his direction, The Diatribe continues to build on its mission to inspire and empower through the transformative power of art.
Wardell is passionate about using his voice and platform to advocate for those who feel unheard. He believes in the importance of making the world a better place through meaningful and impactful work.
