Communications Manager

Torri Mathes is a seasoned strategic communications professional with over a decade of expertise in digital marketing, public relations, and community engagement across municipal and nonprofit sectors. As Communications Manager for the Michigan Sustainable Business Forum (MiSBF), Torri leads efforts to amplify the organization’s mission of advancing sustainability across Michigan. Her work includes managing media relations, implementing digital strategies that enhance stakeholder engagement, and spearheading critical projects such as MiSBF’s rebranding and communications audit.

Prior to her role at MiSBF, Torri honed her skills as Founder and CEO of Mathes Media, a consultancy dedicated to helping organizations foster deeper connections through impactful storytelling and strategic outreach. Her career also includes leadership positions with municipalities like Berkley, Auburn Hills, and Troy, where she developed comprehensive communication plans, managed crisis communication efforts, and executed award-winning community engagement initiatives.

With a Master’s in Public Administration from Wayne State University and a Bachelor’s in Journalism from Oakland University, Torri brings a well-rounded perspective to her work. She also holds certifications in emergency management and DEI, underscoring her commitment to inclusive and forward-thinking communication strategies.

Outside of work, Torri is an avid world traveler who enjoys exploring diverse cultures and landscapes. She is passionate about hiking, capturing moments through photography, and expressing her creativity through painting. These pursuits reflect her deep appreciation for the environment and inspire her commitment to sustainability.
