Worthen Industries
Worthen Industries began in 1866 as Union Paste Company and is a family-owned manufacturer of specialty adhesives and coatings, coated substrates, and extruded thermoplastic films. Worthen’s five U.S. plants, which includes our facility in Grand Rapids, support 12 business units with customers across a wide range of industries including footwear and apparel, construction, labelling, packaging, transportation, and medical.
Worthen is committed to operating in a way that minimizes our environmental impacts, and we are continually looking for opportunities to reduce our carbon footprint. Our sustainability efforts focus on decreasing waste and increasing recycling to minimize our contribution to landfills, improving the energy efficiency of our building systems and manufacturing processes, and increasing our use of renewable energy by installing rooftop solar arrays. In addition, when developing new products, “green chemistry” is a major consideration for our R&D teams as they evaluate more sustainable raw materials including those that are biobased, low to no VOC content, recycled content containing, or recyclable.
Our business units are always eager to work with customers to develop solutions that help them achieve their sustainability goals.
