Our Materials Tell a Story

Public Thread is a non-profit social enterprise that creates upcycled products with a strong focus on local impact. Rooted in the Grand Rapids community, we partner with area manufacturers to divert scrap and surplus textiles, designing and handcrafting small batches of products for conscious consumers and organizations committed to sustainability. Through our online store at publicthread.org, and in collaboration with local businesses, nonprofits, municipalities, and organizations, we champion the circular economy by providing B2B products and services.

Our commitment to Grand Rapids extends beyond products. We offer ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) data and impact tracking, along with programs designed to engage the community, such as company outings, workshops, cross-training for staff, and fun, hands-on classes. Public Thread is dedicated to empowering local businesses and organizations in Grand Rapids to lead the way in sustainability and creative disruption.
