Founded in 1993, the Land Information Access Association (LIAA) is a federally approved, Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation registered in the State of Michigan. LIAA was organized to help provide citizens and public officials with more effective access to the information and analytical tools needed to understand and manage their cultural and natural resources. We are particularly concerned with informing land-use planning and regulation efforts toward the preservation of the unique natural and cultural resources required for sustainable, resilient communities.

Headquartered in Traverse City, LIAA provides innovative community-building and support services to governments, organizations and individual citizens all across the state. Expertise includes community planning and development; website, software and database development and IT support; geographic information systems (GIS) and mapping; nonprofit management; community-access media and video production; and related training and education.
