Local First Educates Businesses on B-Corporations Feb. 20

Local First of West Michigan, Grand Valley State University, and Cascade Engineering, along with Gazelle Sports, will participate in a conversation on the rise and impact of benefit corporations, also known as B corporations, on February 20.   The evening-long presentation will provide attendees with a chance to explore the workings of actual public good-centered B corporations and examine how these companies are building businesses that are better for workers, better for our communities, and better for the environment.  Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about B corporation’s collective work and how their organizations can participate in the global, B corporation movement

The program includes a keynote address from Cascade Engineering CEO Fred Keller, and a panel discussion with several local corporate leaders and business professionals.  Panel participants include Gazelle Sports owner Chris Lampelle, Hardik Savalia of nonprofit B-Lab, Local First Executive Director Elissa Hillary, and Michael DeWilde, professor at Grand Valley State University.

In West Michigan, both Cascade Engineering and Gazelle Sports recently acquired the B Corporation certification.

The event is free and open to the public.  Spaces are limited.  For more information, or to RSVP, please click here.
